Soulful Sundays – coming back for a visit

Recent events have brought me back to Elemental Emotions. Striving to be a better writer caused a total revisit to this works. It will also bring about a revisit to the artwork, which will be shared at that time. Right now, this examination has sparked an interesting criticism; why does the girl in your story need to be rescued by a big, strong guy?

Immediately, confusion washed over me because I don’t feel that she has.

Is Zene a helpless girl needing a rescue? Not at all. From the beginning, Zene takes her situation in her hands. Not knowing how it’ll turn out, she takes the initiative to find an escape from an inescapable prison. When help comes at a needed moment, she again doesn’t hesitate to take this. This is not weakness.

In my eyes, there are times when everyone needs help. And Zene is not alone in this. Not within the story, and not within life. I didn’t write Elemental Emotions feeling like I needed a story with a rescue. I wrote it because I am proud of every time I haven’t lost myself in the hard times. With or without help.

There is strength in asking for help. There is kindness in giving it. Especially when we are struggling, we aren’t meant to feel lonely.
