Welcome back to Soulful Sundays. Our safe place to relax, share, and reflect.
That’s sort of a reminder to myself. Life has become so hectic. Just as I got over the flu, I got hit with this nasty cold! The Business Management courses are completed now just in time for the Art classes to ramp up. Work is also kicking into high gear. And sadly, these illnesses mean that I can’t help my parents out with driving them places while their car gets fixed.
Life is a lot sometimes, isn’t it?
In art class, we are working on colour schemes and self portraits. The worst is the self portrait. I don’t want to look at myself in a mirror and draw that! Thankfully, our instructor is amazing and we have creative license to do our portraits however we want. It can be abstract or literal, it can be painted or digitally done. As long as we are playing with colours to invoke feelings. We have so many different artistic styles that our instructor wants us to be expressive individuals. It’s so much fun and is very challenging.
My decision came easily to do up an illustration, which is my chosen artform. That’s the one I connect with the most. I’m working on the colours and am loving all the different paintbrushes I can use in Procreate. Once I’m able to, I’ll share the finished product with you all. What I can do is share the sketch I created for it.
These two girls are both a representation of myself. The one who hears the negative thoughts and the one who has hope. To me, these two sides aren’t in opposition of each other. They’re two sides to one soul. And when the depression subsides, hope is still there with a hand upon my shoulder to lead me back to the sunshine. So, I’m thinking grey-blues and golden-yellows for the main colours, with pink or purple hair (I don’t have it now, but had it for about fifteen years and miss it). Some other colours will make an appearance as well, but we’ll see what comes out.

Art class really celebrates our individuality. I wasn’t expecting that, though I’m not sure why. It’s empowering being a part of this class. And now I think that I must find other artists to be a part of the community with. We are stronger together!
Cheers and blessings my friends,
Selina
