Soulful Sundays – my safe place

BL has made home my safe place. The moment I get home from work, my laptop gets plugged in. No need for the room light, so the darkness invites me in. The charging light on the laptop comes to life. Habit and heart dictate a kneel and a prayer of thanks. Anticipation hits before I stand. At the end of the evening, my reward for the day is an episode…or maybe a few. It can be hard to stop.

Many BL shows make the list with more being added all the time. Oddly, waiting each week for a new episode to be released is fun. I love the anticipation that comes with a new series. Like a mini-Christmas! When I don’t have a new episode to watch, or if I want the familiarity of an old friend, my number one Must Watch is Love in the Air by Mame. PaiSky’s (FortPeat) story particularly, though I could easily make a case for PayuRain’s (BossNoeul) story.

Sky’s struggle with a past he hasn’t shared speaks deeply to me. Struggles rarely get easier when tackled alone. It doesn’t mean that we don’t try. Relentlessly pursued by those demons of the past, it would take someone equally as relentless to overcome Sky’s fears. Shameless and determined, Prapai doesn’t let us down when he realizes what he’s taken on pursuing Sky.

Life is never as good as fiction. It’s why I happily spend my heart and time writing and illustrating it. I’ll probably never have my Prapai. There’s a litany of reasons why I won’t, but like Sky, I feel I must struggle in silence. But for all the Sky’s looking for their Pai, and all the Rain’s looking for their Payu, may all your desires shift from fiction into reality.

This is a previous work that I completed. It holds no character reference, but is a depiction of my BL obsession. It’s also the first drawing I did without a model or reference!
